We are currently deploying MS Edge Chromium with SCCM and GPO.We are using IE Mode for somes apps but we have somes problems with it. What I do know, is if you manually make a short cut to here "%windir%\explorer.exe shell:Appsfolder\Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbwe!MicrosoftEdge" it will create a Edge Shortcut, You can then change the icon to here "%windir%\SystemApps\Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbwe\MicrosoftEdge.exe" to get the correct icon.īut when deploying this through GPO, it never seems to work. Problem is the Edge browser is a Modern App, so it doesn't launch the same way as the other browsers, in fact, you can't even launch it when double clicking on the exe file for it. I have also already set the group policy - 'Prevent desktop shortcut creation upon install default' for Administrative Templates\Microsoft Edge Update\Applications to 'disabled' to see if that would work. I had no problem adding IE, Chrome, and Firefox to the students desktops using a group policy (User Config.>Preferences>Windows Settigns>Shortcuts), but I cant seem to find a way for it to add the Edge browser. but when I log into a computer after the sequence is done, there is still a shortcut on c:\users\public\desktop that goes to the new Edge.
